Our team focuses on giving you individual, one to one attention in a tranquil, intimate space. Dedicating ourselves only to you, allows us to work effectively, meeting your hairdressing needs in a timely fashion. We look forward to welcoming you to the salon..
Our tranquil hair salon set in Frenchs Forest boasts a relaxed and intimate space where our clients can enjoy the benefits of luxury, organic products. Our priority is ensuring each client receives one to one individual care throughout their visit with their own dedicated stylist. Relaxation is guaranteed with our fully reclining massage chair and thorough scalp massage.
We are committed to upholding the health and strength of hair and strongly believe luxury organic products allow us to do this, whilst ensuring realistic, accurate results.
Aware of our carbon footprint, we take vital steps to reduce this on a daily basis. As a sustainable salon, we recycle all our waste using a controlled system which is then collected and donated to sustainable organisations such as Oz Harvest. We are truly passionate about working towards a sustainable future for all.
With the convenience of parking right outside the door, your salon experience awaits. . .
‘I thoroughly enjoyed my first haircut and colour at Union Jacks. Joanne was very knowledgable about the colour and suggested different shades depending on the look I wanted. I look forward to returning!
‘Julia was very professional and caring, my visit was to fix a badly done, full head of highlights. She listened, understood what I wanted and ensured I was happy with the outcome. A very cosy place and a caring professional.’

‘The team went out of their way to accomodate me. Thank you so much! A lovely place, close to home, plenty of parking and a lovely team! Joanne did a great job and I’m really pleased with the colour and style. I’ll definitely be back.’
Originally from the south of England and where Julia gained her hairdressing qualifications, she also discovered a love for teaching and became a qualified NVQ trainer and assessor, having managed several hairdressing salons in the UK as well as an upmarket salon in Balgowlah. Julia launched Union Jacks mobile hair services in 2015, before transitioning in to the Union Jacks salon in early 2019.
Julia’s past salon experiences left her frustrated, often under pressure to turn out as many clients as possible, like working on a conveyor belt. Julia says her skills felt compromised and that clients felt rushed and unimportant.
We at Union Jacks are different……. each client has our full attention from start to finish, enjoying a full body massage, fully stretched out in the basin chair during your shampoo and scalp massage, enjoy a barista beverage from our onsite café and the convenience of free parking right outside the door. We understand your life is busy, time for yourself is rare, by operating in the way we do, allows us to meet your hairdressing needs in a timely fashion. Therefore freeing you and us, from the ‘wait your turn’ conveyer belt…

How does natural colour differ from traditional ones?
We trust and use the Colour Me range by Kevin Murphy.
Natural, environmentally conscious, sustainable and peta approved. Low irritant ingredients and free from harsh chemicals.
Many people have experienced some form of irritation when using colours in the past. From a slight itch to a serious allergic response, these reactions aren’t good. The colour system we use lowers the chances of such reactions. However, we do recommend having a patch test 48hours before your first visit to us.
Our products are all vegan, cruelty free and use natural based chemicals that are less reactive for the body and amazing for the hair.
Should I wash my hair before my colour service?
We recommend washing your hair 24hours prior to your service (never on the day). Please make sure your hair is free of products and/or dirt as this could hinder the success of the service.
Can I book online?
Yes absolutely! One of our team will review your booking to check it is correctly entered into our diary and be in touch if it needs updating/changing. Please ensure you book each service that you require. Colour services DO NOT automatically include a cut or blow dry. If you wish to have these services, they need to be booked too.
My hair is really thick/very long. Do you need to know this?
Yes, please let us know as this ensures we have adequate time booked for your service. If booking online, please select the thick/long hair surcharge.
Why do you charge extra for thick/long hair?
Extra product and time will be necessary to ensure we can complete your service efficiently.
Why do I need to enter my card details to confirm my booking?
Your card details ensures your booking is confirmed in our system. Our cancellation policy is as follows; 30% charge of the booking is deducted from the card if cancellation is less than 24 hrs from the appointment. A 50% fee is deducted for failure to attend the appointment.
Do I need a blow dry?
No, you don’t need to have a blow dry with your service, however we strongly recommend you do;
For haircuts, a blow dry allows us to see the shape of the haircut better and personalise it to suit you.
For the first time in salon colours we recommend a blow dry as it gives us the chance to see the colour properly, ensuring you are satisfied with the result.
Can I bring reference photos to my appointment?
We love reference photos! Everyone is on Instagram, Pinterest and so many other social platforms these days that allow them to find inspiration.
Please remember that these photos are for reference and usually cannot be recreated perfectly as there are many factors that can change the outcome of colours/haircuts.
How long will I be in the salon?
This depends on what service you are here for!
Haircuts take between 45mins -1h 30mins depending on the style of the cut/blow-dry.
For colours you will be in here for a minimum of 1h 30mins for a simple root touch up. Foils/balayage/creative colour jobs will be minimum 3hours, however planning for longer is always better just in case.
Some colours will require you to be in the salon for longer, please allow extra time so you and your stylist can create the perfect colour and are not rushed on the day!
Is there parking?
Yes we have an abundance of parking right outside the door. The salon is located Inside Aussie Gems Cheerleading & Fitness. Head through their main door, come up the stairs to your right and we are clearly signposted.
Should I have a consultation before my first appointment?
We recommend a consultation before your first appointment, especially if you are having a big change. We offer free consultations in the salon with a stylist. Give us a call or email us to book one today.
Will you remind me of my appointment?
We send out reminder texts a few days before your appointment. Please confirm your appointment by replying to your text or give us a call in the salon to reschedule.
